Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson lauded "a really good team performance" after a draw with Nottinghamshire with a last-day wash-out.

The Vitality County Championship clash at Trent Bridge saw the team add another 13 Division One points to their tally, following on from securing 14 against Warwickshire.

The team now sits in the third position in the table.

The draw and the team's placement in the table leaves plenty to be positive about for Worcestershire after their promotion from Division Two last year.

Richardson began: "Frustrated? We have to be.

"Both sides will be because potentially there was a very good day’s cricket to be had."

He said: "It was a really good team performance first and foremost.

"There were obviously some outstanding moments from individuals which helped us along the way.

"But the way the boys stuck together in the face of some real challenges was very good."

He added: “It was a reasonably big toss to lose and so to be put in the field and stick at it as well as they did was good to see.

“Nottinghamshire batted really well. But we stuck together well and took the last four wickets quite quickly which was key.

“Batting-wise, there will be guys disappointed they didn’t go on and get big scores but, as a team, we put together four or five really good partnerships.”

Worcestershire scored 355 runs before bowling out Notts for 151-7 as the game concluded due to weather conditions.

Key performers in the match included Rob Jones scoring 90, Nathan Smith, who performed doubly well by both scoring 58 and taking 4-29 wickets to adds to his 3-67 in the first innings.

Captain Brett D'Oliveira contributed 54 and Joe Leach added an unbeaten 48 to the scoreboard.

Richardson also singled out a couple more players for praise, saying: "It would be remiss not to talk about Nathan’s bowling but that was backed up brilliantly by Adam Finch and Josh Baker who bowled exceptionally well too.

"It was a really strong team performance again and the boys should be really proud of how they stood up."
