Severn Stars head coach Jo Trip has lauded her team ahead of a tough test when Loughborough Lightning visit this weekend.

Trip has said her team are continually improving, but recognises the looming challenge of the reigning Netball Super League champions.

With only one position separating the teams, the fiercely anticipated clash will see second go up against third at the University of Worcester Arena on Saturday (April 13) at 6pm.

Trip said: "The team is going from strength to strength with another great win on the board.

"We have been scouting Loughborough Lightning this week and coming up with a plan around what we want to put out against them.

"We will continue to work on playing with freedom, running strong lines, being purposeful in everything we do and increasing our intensity on defence across the full 60 minutes."

The coach also gave due credit to the devoted Stars supporters, claiming "we have the best fans."

Adding to their winning momentum, Stars secured victory last week over Surrey Storm on Sunday (April 7), securing a decisive triumph with a 72-55 scoreline in front of their home crowd.

Despite some early stumbles, Stars quickly recovered to level the match and eventually took the lead before halftime, which they kept for what remained of the game.

Coach Trip said: "It was super exciting to perform on court in front of another sold-out crowd.

"After three away games on the trot, it was nice to be back in our changing rooms and home arena in front of our fans, families and friends."

Their undefeated run of wins, currently standing at six, is just one short of their total victories last season.

With their eyes firmly set on breaking the record, Trip maintains the team's focus on their immediate challenges.

She said: "We are only ever focused on the next game.

"We cannot and will not get ahead of ourselves.

"We have come out and stated our intent to be in the top four, and I do believe that week in - week out we are continuing to build to this."
