WORCESTERSHIRE County Seniors Pool team have been crowned national champions after winning the Nationals Senior Finals at Lowestoft.

Worcestershire won their Regional 3 competition - which includes teams from the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire - meaning they qualified for the Round of 16 in the National stage of the tournament.

16 County teams of nine players across the whole of England entered and Worcestershire came up against Kent in their first-round of the knockout stages, winning 19 frames to 10.

That set-up a quarter-final clash against West Yorkshire which was an enthralling contest, with Worcestershire winning by 19 frames to 16.

The semi-final saw them take on Cleveland and, again, it was another win for Worcestershire as they recorded a 19-12 victory.

Having seen off the rest of the competition, only Berkshire stood in the way of Worcestershire lifting the national title and in another close encounter, it was Worcestershire who came out on top 19-15.
