Plans to build up to seven homes in a Worcestershire village have been rejected.

A proposal for housing on land next to Abberley Common had been put forward, drawing opposition from the parish council and from neighbours.

Planning officers had recommended the scheme for approval but Malvern Hills District Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to refuse permission.

They felt the elevated location of the site relative to its surroundings would “give rise to an unduly prominent and intrusive development” and that the harm would “significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the scheme”.
