A scheme to build bedsits on land behind a building in Lowesmoor has been rejected by city planners.
The owners of Number 88 Lowesmoor, which contains two flats over three floors, wanted to build a two-storey “brick structure” to house two bedsits behind the building.
They said the land was currently used as a place to dump unwanted beds and sofas.
Planning officers said the proposed bedsits would be undersized and substandard, with no private outdoor amenity space, making for poor living conditions for any future residents.
