Waitrose in Droitwich wants to install new cameras with automatic number plate recognition technology.
The supermarket has submitted a planning application for four new cameras, two new camera columns and three new ticket machines.
In planning documents, it says a new ‘pay on foot’ system will aid the availability of parking spaces for Waitrose customers.
It also says there are no plans to change the existing layout of the car park or its entrance and exit.
If granted planning permission, the cameras would be mounted four-and-a-half metres above the ground, on five-metre columns.
