THIS week’s edition of the Worcester News Sports Replay is village cricket and we go back to the 1980s and 90s with the Old Elizabethans.

Old Elizabethans Cricket Club was formed in 1935 as the cricket section of the Worcester Royal Grammar School ‘Old Boys’ network.

In the mid 90s, with the aid of National Lottery funding, the club began the process of designing and building today’s modern facility at the Memorial Ground.

The new pavilion was opened in May 1998 at a cost of £260,000 by Worcestershire and England batsman and Old Elizabethan Tim Curtis.

OEs’ ground has been constantly upgraded since that time to bring it in line with the best facilities in the area.

This culminated in the opening of a second ground in August 2001. Neel Park is used for cricket as well as hosting Perrywood Football Club in the winter.

Here are two sides from the 1980s and 90s.
