'The Periodicals' paints a dystopian near future where education authorities are on a mission to end all school absences.

A group of young 'ghosts', 'devils', and 'anarchists', who have turned their backs on the failing system, fight for their freedom.

This team of techno-savvy fugitives must evade the authorities, hiding out in a rubbish dump.

This year marks the Worcester Theatres’ Young Rep's third consecutive appearance at the festival.

The festival, led by the National Theatre, provides an opportunity for thousands of young thespians to showcase their creative skills in theatres across the country.

Discussing the forthcoming theatre production, Worcester Theatres’ creative producer and young rep artistic director, Owen Harper, said: "The Periodicals is a witty and fast-paced dystopian exploration of the lives of young people post-Covid 19.

"With themes around political unrest, neurodivergent behaviour and control, the Young REP are very excited to bring this Mad Max-esqe world to life.

"I feel very privileged to be working with our incredibly talented Young Rep once again; their dedication to this performance has been inspiring, and I know the end result will be meaningful and captivating."

Their talented young performers' production of The Periodicals will have a three-night run from Tuesday 20 until Thursday, February 22 at 7:30pm each evening.
