The Elgar Chorale will host festive concerts during the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre in the city centre next month.

They will celebrate the spirit of Christmas with two programmes of festive music and invite you to join them.

‘On Christmas Night’ is a candlelit concert that features audience favourites, including highlights from the Christmas section of Handel’s Messiah, alongside charming but less familiar seasonal pieces by M Berkeley, Howells, Warlock and the Chorale’s own director of music, Piers Maxim.

Worcester News: The Elgar Chorale of Worcester will host 'On Christmas Night'

The main component of the festive event is the sequence of carols On Christmas Night by Bob Chilcott, where he uses several familiar festive melodies within his own compositions, which creates an impressive plethora of moods and styles, varying from comforting and reflective to jubilant, swinging and folksy.

Two soloists from the Royal Academy of Music in London will join the Chorale, while Christopher Allsop will accompany at the fine organ.

On Christmas Night will begin at 7.30pm in Worcester Baptist Church, Sansome Walk on Saturday, December 2.

Tickets are £18, with concessions available and free for students.
