BLUE singer Duncan James begged crowds at Mello Festival for help to escape hunters from Channel 4's Hunted.

The singer was performing during the festival in Upton-on-Severn when he stopped the set to ask for festival-goers help to evade capture.

He and teammate Christine McGuinness, a model and television presenter, are trying to evade capture for the celebrity version of the show.

The celebrities are attempting to escape capture by an elite team of hunters for 14 days.

Despite the obvious risks of performing in front of thousands of people at Mello Festival, Duncan tried to use the crowd to his advantage.

In a video recorded by Jen Adams, Duncan said: "I've got something really important to tell you, has anybody seen the Channel 4 programme Celebrity Hunted?

"So right now, I am absolutely bricking it because I am currently on the run as a fugitive and I need to tell you there are hunters right here now trying to catch me.

"But I am not on the run on my own and this is for Stand Up to Cancer and it is really important that I ask you guys to help me right now.

"You might see them, they might look like security guards, all in black - they're very big.

"And they've got like cameras on their shoulders and stuff.

"They have a big black Volvo parked somewhere around here.

"Once this gig finishes, I need you to find them, stop them from catching us alright?

"I really need your help to get out of here, you can't touch them, that's all you can't do, you're not allowed to touch them.

"Even though there's a couple of sexy hunters, I've been told."

The singer then brings out a "fellow fugitive" Christine McGuinness as the crowd cheer who also begs the crowd for help - but admits she is far more scared of being on the stage than being caught.

He was joined on stage by fellow band members Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa.

The boyband are best known for hits All Rise, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Fly By, and Too Close.

Organisers estimate 2,000 people or more enjoyed the Mello Festival in Upton over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Running from Friday until Sunday, Mello had a line-up that also included the Hoosiers, Reef, Huey Morgan, and Aston Merrygold.
