HOME-Start Wyre Forest has been awarded a grant of £90,000 over three years by BBC Children in Need.

This grant will fund their core service of home visiting volunteer support and help make a difference to the lives of children and young people facing disadvantage across the Wyre Forest.

The family support charity has been delivering befriending services to local families for 28 years and supports an average of 400 children aged 0-18 years in 150 local families each year, through a team of 85 volunteers and 6 staff.

Manager Belinda Darby said: “Our service is more needed than ever, with waiting lists for group and home visiting support and financial pressures escalating the difficulties experienced by many families.

"This funding has been a lifeline to ensure our organisation can continue to be here for local families and offer the tried and tested support we know works so well.

"We are very grateful to all at BBC Children In Need and to everyone who donates, which results in charities like ours receiving these grants.”
