A SHOCKING video shows cyclists' close shaves with careless drivers.

West Mercia Police have released a video of cyclists coming within inches of danger.

It comes as part of the force's Operation Snap, a campaign which encourages members of the public to submit footage of potential traffic offences.

The footage, shared on Twitter, shows multiple examples of motorists getting a bit too close for comfort.

Anyone who witnesses such driving can report it via the online form on the West Mercia website.

Incidents can range from driving dangerously or carelessly to overtaking on solid white lines, using a mobile phone while driving, ignoring traffic lights or dangerous driving around other road users, such as horse riders and cyclists.

Submissions will then be sent to West Mercia Police where the evidence will be reviewed by one of their road traffic police officers.

A police spokesperson said: "We will strive to update each submitter regarding the outcome of their allegation.

"All submissions are dealt with pro-actively to help reduce risk taking and poor driving on our counties roads."

Police would also like to remind people that Operation Snap cannot be used to help tackle parking complaints.

However, any parking on Zig Zag lines or parking that is placing pedestrians at risk will be actioned.

Similarly, window or number plate offences such as tinted glass or smoked plates should not be reported via Operation Snap as police are unable to verify the offences from footage alone.
