A WALKER from Worcestershire has been found dead in the Lake District.
The body of the male, confirmed to be 56 years old by Cumbria Police, was discovered by another hiker on Horn Crag, Grasmere, on Sunday, October 11, at around 11.10am.
It has also been confirmed that he is from Droitwich.
Sixteen members of Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team carried out a five-hour technical operation to recover the body from the mountainside, after being called to scene at 12.20pm.
A spokesman for the team said: “A man approaching a scramble on Horn Crag, Grasmere, discovered a body at the base of the crag.
“A difficult technical evacuation ensued and the body was recovered and handed over to the authorities.”
A spokeswoman for Cumbria Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.
"Police were called at 11.10am on October 11th to reports of a body found on Grasmere Common.
"The body was that of a 56-year-old man from Worcestershire.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."
