WORCESTER Warriors’ fly-half Ryan Lamb has become the 17th player to tally 1,000 points in the Aviva Premiership after reaching the milestone against Sale Sharks.

Lamb, 30, achieved the milestone almost 10 years since his debut in the competition – only Newcastle’s Dave Walder (over 11 years) has taken longer to reach the landmark.

The record for the shortest time to reach four figures is by current Test referee Glen Jackson for Saracens, taking just four years and 164 days. However, Jackson, at 33 years 179 days, was the oldest to reach the mark.

The youngest to reach a millennia of points in the tournament was Jonny Wilkinson, who was just 23 years 252 days old when becoming only the third player to reach the target in 2003.

Less than five months previously, Tim Stimpson had become the first to clock up 1,000 Premiership points during Leicester’s match at Sale in September 2002.

The 34-34 draw with Sale was Lamb’s 154th Premiership appearance, but that wasn’t the most matches to the milestone, that record is held by Alex King who took 168 games.

The fastest to 1,000 points in terms of appearances was the competition’s all-time points scorer Charlie Hodgson, who took 79 matches to the prestigious landmark.
