BRITISH Hill Climb Championship leader Scott Moran and Wallace Menzies claimed a victory apiece at Shelsley Walsh.

Worcester’s Trevor Willis finished third in 23.86 seconds behind Menzies in 23.06 and Moran in 23.54.

Willis was pushed out to fourth in round 26 by man of the meeting Dave Uren with 23.55 in his diminutive Force PC.

Ludlow’s Moran took best time of the day on the final run with 23.03 in his Gould GR61X racing car.

He stretched his championship lead by a few more points with 228 to Willis’ 203.

Reigning British champion Alex Summers, of Tenbury Wells, had a guest drive in the Gould GR55 of Mark Coley, managing fifth in both championship run-offs.

The meet also hosted the Midland Hill Climb Championship, Paul Matty Sports Cars Lotus Championship, 500 Owners Association and Westfield Speed Series.

The largest class was the 1,100cc racing car category, with 22 entries, and Malvern driver Tom Poole won in 26.99 seconds from Simon Fidoe, of Worcester, in 27.00 – with both in Empires.

Poole said: “This has got to be the best class in hill climbing for the sheer numbers and closeness of competition, with most drivers within tenths of a second of each other.”

Hereford’s Mike Turpin, Midland champion in 2012, 2014 and 2015, won his class to retain his lead in this year’s standings.

But Pilbeam driver Tim Davies is close with dropped scores still to be taken into consideration.

The 25th year of the Paul Matty Sports Cars Lotus Championship will go down to the wire for its last event at the Shelsley Walsh autumn speed finale next month with June Matty and David Hampton leading the two separate classes.

Class winners included Ken Williamson in a Lotus Elise, Roy Standley in a Mitsubishi EV5RS, David Warburton in a Caterham 7, Colin Satchell in a Peugeot 205, Bruce Aitken in a Citroen Saxo, Philip Stader in an Alfa Romeo Berlina, David Tatham in a Terrapin, Ben Tranter in a Vector, Richard Spedding in a GWR Raptor, Richard Jones in a Brabham, Adam Phelps in a Westfield Megabusa and Alastair Dent in a Hornet F3.
