DROITWICH Spa Cricket Club’s annual six-a-side tournament on Sunday will also be a fundraiser for a cause close to their players’ hearts.
Proceeds will be donated to #JSYouCanDoIt, the charity set up in memory of their former player Jack Stephens from Malvern, who died aged 23 last summer.
He was passionate about greater equality in life, particularly around access to education, so money raised on the day will help to provide grants for people who find finance a genuine barrier to studying at degree level.
The action gets under way at 10am at St Peter’s Fields and will be provided by eight teams competing for the inaugural #JSYouCanDoIt Trophy.
There will be plenty of fun off the pitch including games, a barbecue, bottle tombola and beer festival.
