DROITWICH Tennis Club’s ladies’ A team picked up their third win of the season against Pershore A in Herefordshire and Worcestershire Doubles League Division One.

Caroline Brookes and Penny Maidment lost 6-1, 6-3 before a 6-1, 6-0 victory in their second match.

Lisa Pettener-Jones and Marelize Yorke won 6-3, 6-0 before dropping the second 6-3, 6-1.

However, Heidi Harris and Kate Hughes triumphed 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 and 7-5, 6-1 to seal a 4-2 victory.

The mixed A team, who are bottom of Division One, lost 4-0 at home to Manor Park A but the match was closer than the scoreline suggests.

Dee Smith and Scott Howell lost in straight sets before a marathon match ended 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.

Joe Maidment and Yorke also fell in straight sets before unluckily going down 6-1, 3-6, 7-6.

There was a similar story for the C team, who lost 3-1 to Pershore B in Division Four.

John Jenkins and Suzy Levay lost in three sets and then were also beaten in their second match.

Chris Passey and Heather Fellows won for the loss of just three games before losing their second encounter in three sets.

Droitwich men’s B team kept up their promotion hopes from Division Five with a winning draw at Wall Heath.

John Moran and Carlos Segura, Adam Hair and Maidment and Eric Cartelet and Nick King all won one of their two matches and took enough games to claim victory.
