WORCESTER Warriors will host Gloucester's final play-off match for a place in the European Rugby Champions Cup should the Cherry and Whites progress to that stage.

Gloucester's triumph in the final of the European Rugby Challenge Cup means they face two play-off matches to progress to next season's European Rugby Champions Cup.

The first of those play-off matches will take place at Kingsholm against the best-placed club not already qualified from the Guinness PRO12.

If Gloucester win this game, they would then proceed to a second play-off game at Sixways, this time against the seventh-placed club from the Top 14 in the final.

This match would take place at Sixways on Sunday, May 31 at 5pm as Kingsholm will be staging a concert the previous evening.

Warriors chief executive Jim O'Toole said: "We are delighted to be able to host such a notable fixture and we are looking forward to working with our friends and neighbours Gloucester, should they qualify, to ensure the match is a huge success.

"We have been in discussions with Gloucester for some time to ensure we can accommodate this fixture after we have completed our own play-off series.

"I know our fans are completely focused on Friday's play-off against London Scottish and our objective is to win that to ensure we can host our own play-off final later this month.”

Gloucester chief executive Stephen Vaughan said: "We looked into various options for the game and decided, after due consideration, that playing the game at Worcester would be the best option and we're very grateful to Worcester Warriors for potentially accommodating us.

"Having seen our supporters travel to London last Friday and turn the Stoop into a home game, we feel confident that we can do likewise just 20 minutes up the M5 at Sixways.”
