AMATEUR darts players from Worcester and beyond have the chance to win a coveted place in the Coral UK Open this weekend.
Around 100 talented throwers will compete in a qualifying round at Rileys on the Shrub Hill Industrial Estate for a place at Butlins Minehead resort for the ITV4-televised tournament from March 6 to 8.
The eventual winner will face Rory Duffy, who won a qualifier at Rileys Harlow, in the £300,000 event’s preliminary round in Somerset.
Should they then be successful against Duffy, a first round match against the Rileys Chorlton qualifier awaits before a potential second round meeting with world number 24 Stephen Bunting.
There are still a few spaces left and entry, open to any player, costs £5 and closes at noon tomorrow with the tournament getting under way on Saturday at 1.30pm.
A total of 32 places are open to amateur players through qualifying tournaments at Rileys clubs across the country.
Among the star players taking part at Butlins include Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson.
