A PERSHORE High schoolgirl has represented South Worcestershire lifeguards at an international lifesaving world championships.

Amy Weston, aged 15, went to Eindhoven to take part in events for the youth team.

Alex Jackson from Prince Henry's High School was also in the team.

The event over a three week period saw competitions in the pool and on the beach.

Amy participated in five races, finishing in the top 15 for her age group as well as coming fifth and gaining an overall 29th out of 94 competitors in the 200m obstacles.

Amy went on to take part in the beach events in Noordwijk including the surf race where she came joint 23rd.
