A WORCESTER headteacher has spoken of his pride at attending a reception at the Houses of Parliament.

Steve Powell, head at Nunnery Wood High School, was there for the launch of a prestigious government magazine in which his school has featured.

Nunnery Wood High School was among only a handful of schools across the country celebrated in this year's secondary education edition of The Parliamentary Review.

The magazine celebrates innovation in business and public sector and will be sent out to thousands of policymakers, executives and headteachers across the country as a model of good practice for education.

Mr Powell had been invited to write a report for this year's edition of the magazine which showcased the Spetchley Road school's media and communications strategy.

The launch event took place at the House of Commons' Terrace Pavilion and the magazine's editor-in-chief David Curry spoke along with Mark Darcy, the BBC parliamentary correspondent.

Mr Powell said: “I was very proud for Nunnery High School to be represented amongst the very best schools and businesses in the country.

"The reception to launch the publication in the Houses of Commons brought home the significance of being chosen to represent the Midlands."
