MIDLANDS Air Ambulance has criticised an upcoming episode of BBC's Casualty calling it "insensitive".

Casualty will be broadcasting an anniversary episode which involves an air ambulance aircraft crashing into the hospital.

The helicopter was a different model to the one used by the charity, based at Strensham, but it has labelled tomorrow's episode "insensitive".

A statement from Midlands Air Ambulance said: "Although we were asked by the producers to assist with the episode, we politely declined as we felt the storyline is insensitive to many, including our staff and you our valued supporters and we distanced ourselves from it.

"We appreciate that Casualty is an entertainment drama, and is a form of escapism for many, but this storyline isn’t one we condone."

They urged anyone with concerns to get in touch with the air ambulance via 0800 8 40 20 40 or email info@midlandsairambulance.com.
