THIS year’s Worcester City 10k is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet.

The event, now in its third year, is taking place on Sunday, September 18 and will see thousands of runners of all abilities racing through the city streets.

The event will see athletes of all abilities taking part in three different events – the 10K, a ‘Run-Bike-Run’ and a Young Athletes Run, and hundreds more lining the streets to cheer them on.

Olympic silver medalist Steve Cram, whose company Events of the North helps run the event, says he expects more people than ever to take part this year.

“Things are shaping up very nicely for this year’s Worcester City Run events,” he said.

“Once again, it looks like the number of participants in the races will grow and there’s certainly been a spike in entries over the last few weeks, ever since we announced that the likes of Jenny Meadows and Louise Minchin will be on the starting line.

“I’m sure that the success of Team GB in Rio has also inspired the people of Worcester to have a go and we’re expecting the level of entries to continue rising up until the closing date.”

He is also urging anyone interested in volunteering at the event to get in touch.

“What really marked out the first two years of the Worcester City Run was the amazing enthusiasm of local people,” he said.

“We have experienced fantastic crowds cheering on the runners and cyclists, and there have been some brilliant volunteers who have made it possible.”

The closing date for entries is Wednesday, September 14. Visit worcestercityrun.com.
