POLICE have released further details about a robbery and assault involving a gang of teens which took place in the Diglis Basin area of Worcester.

The two victims, aged 14 and 15, were cycling towards the city centre, close to Basin Road, when they were stopped by a gang of three teenage boys.

The first victim was held in a head lock and kicked several times by two of the boys, and his bag was taken.

One of these two offenders then took the victim's mountain bike and threw it into the river.

The same person then threatened the second victim and took his mountain bike - a Mongoose BMZ with small black front bars, a blue frame and black forks, with two stunt pegs on the front and metal pedals.

He used the bike to ride away from the scene with the other two in the group, heading over the canal bridge towards the fountains.

The incident happened in broad daylight at around 5pm on Wednesday, August 10.

Investigating officer DC Geraint Perkins said: "This incident happened in an area which is usually busy with pedestrians and is overlooked by several buildings.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened or who thinks they saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around that time."

A 16-year-old boy from Worcester has since been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail until Saturday, September 3.

A 15-year-old boy from Worcester has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail until Tuesday, September 20.
