ALTHOUGH the rain came down, spirits stayed up for this year's Colwall Family Music Festival.

Local talent took centre stage at the festival, which was held across two days on Saturday and Sunday.

The event, which is in its fifth year, was held at Colwall Cricket Club and saw band such as Tone Tanner, Jack of All, Kings and Folk, Stompin' on Spiders, Ronin, Prism and more perform and a host of stalls available for people to browse.

Since the first festival the event has raised money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the tradition continued this year.

Dave Hall, group leader of the BHF Worcestershire Fundraising Group, said: "Firstly, I would say the organisers should be very proud of the event. The standard and mix of the music this year was exceptional as was the sound quality and the new stage. We are very fortunate to have so much musical talent in our area and the festival showcased some of those musicians to great effect.

"It's without doubt the awful weather on Sunday put a severe damper on numbers attending which was a great shame given the festival was so good, but those who did come along had a great time and there was much singing and dancing in the rain. Great credit too to the stall holders who all stuck it out during Sunday when it would have been easy to give up and head for home. Everyone there it seemed was prepared to stick it out despite the rain.

"Also, the festival goers and stallholders were generous in their support of the nominated charity, BHF Worcestershire Fundraising Group, who were collecting over both days, raised more than £200. Many thanks to all for their great support."
