WITLEY Court and Gardens has a long tradition of Christmas decadence and this year it promises to offer the same festive spirit alongside a range of unique gifts.
The country home in Great Witley, near Worcester, became synonymous with the season of giving when the first Lord Dudley, a jewel collector, began offering his female party guests the chance to select a jewel from his Christmas tree as a gift before they left.
Nowadays this decadent heyday has passed but guests can enjoy the grounds and head to Witley’s gift shop at weekends throughout December where they can enjoy tastings of English Heritage’s award-winning meads, wines and chutneys, pick up gifts to delight history-hunters young and old, and put together hampers of award-winning treats and tipples.
And for an extra dose of crafting, on Friday, December 12, guests can also make their own Christmas Wreath.
Witley Court and Gift Shop will be open and dressed for the season every weekend throughout December.
