A CHARITY with a strong local base is helping to support the family of murdered soldier, Lee Rigby.

Fusilier Drummer Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was attacked and killed by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, southeast London, in May 2013.

Now Forces Support, which has branches in Worcester, Kidderminster and Droitwich, has given Mr Rigby's four year old son, Jack, a birthday to remember.

One of the aims of Forces Support is to "provide general maintenance around the home and garden, - the work the lost family member would have done for his or her family".

A Forces Support team recently set to work creating a Thomas the Tank engine themed playroom for Jack, just in time for his birthday.

And when Jack stepped outside, he came across every 4 year old's dream, - a giant trampoline and playhouse in the garden.

Forces Support CEO, Bill McCance said he was thrilled to be able to make such a positive impact on the lives of Jack and his mum, Rebecca.

He added: “We created a space for recreational time, the time Jack would have shared with his dad. The garden and playroom will allow Jack to make many happy memories with this friends and will offer a space to reflect and play”.

Mrs Rigby said: “I honestly can not thank he team enough for what they've?all done for us. The playroom is fantastic, and I'm sure Jack will spend many hours having fun in there. He's got a lovely playhouse in the garden now and an area he can enjoy outside. "
